Application material needed from students

To apply, the student must fill out the Student Application Form (in PDF form). The application includes several questions about the student, their career goals, and their commitment to The Society of Rheology. The answers to these questions will be evaluated using a rubric designed to judge quality of the student responses with an emphasis on rewarding responses that demonstrate that the students are prepared to learn and grow throughout the RRS and SOR meeting and are committed to the rheology community. The students must use the application submission website to enter some basic information, confirm their membership status, and upload the merged PDF file of the student application form and the faculty advisor support form.

Application material needed from advisors

The student's advisor should fill out the Faculty Advisor Support Form (in PDF form). to certify that the student is a member of the Society, indicate the session and title of the submitted oral presentation or poster abstract, and confirm that the student will be the presenter. The advisor must also commit to pay for the students travel to and from the conference and the SOR meeting registration fee, as well as any additional nights of hotel if required to ensure that the student can attend the entire RRS and SOR meeting. The student must submit this form with their application.

How to apply

The advisor support form and student application form (in that order) should be combined into a single PDF file. To combine the files we recommend you print each form as an Adobe PDF and then merge them together using Adobe Acrobat Pro or a merge PDF file tool such as Merge PDFs on the Adobe website. Upload the combined file to the

Application Submission Site

You will be asked for your seven-digit member number (no leading zero) and the paper ID of the submitted abstract.

Submissions will be accepted starting May 5th, 2025 and close on May 16th, 2025. Successful applications will be awarded based on the rating of responses to the questions on the application form. Some consideration may be given to students that are in their final year of graduate school and unable to apply in the future. Notification will be made soon after the close of the application submission window (mid June).
