Santa Fe, the City Different, is the capital city of New Mexico and is one of the oldest governmental seats of the US nation. Its multicultural history started with
the Tewa Peoples as early as 1050 who blended with the Spanish after their arrival in 1610 to create a unique Southwestern culture that lives on. Today, Santa Fe boasts
over 250 art galleries, several James Beard Foundation nominee and awardee restaurants, and
the nearby Santa Fe National Forest with popular flyfishing, hiking, and mountain biking year round.
Santa Fe has a reputation for creativity and freedom and is home to the quirky Meow Wolf
immersive art installation, the groundbreaking Georgia O’Keeffe art collection, the engineering marvel
staircase within the Loretto Chapel, as well as the
Sky Railway adventure train for stargazing. You cannot escape the Santa Fe cuisine, featuring medium-to-hot
Hatch chile peppers (red, green, or Christmas) grown, roasted, and beloved in the state.
Santa Fe Downtown Map
Outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico is the Land of Enchantment, with the historic Route 66 running through
Albuquerque and the birthplace of the atomic bomb in nearby Los Alamos.
Bandelier National Monument immortalizes ancient tribal lands where over 23 nations gathered and traded goods
from as far away as Mexico. Be sure that you make travel reservations early, as the spectacular Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta
will run just before the Annual Meeting from Oct 4 – Oct 12 in Albuquerque, where nearly 500 balloons will rise daily in what is deemed the most photographed event in the nation.
The average high and low temperatures in Santa Fe during October are 63°F and 42°F, respectively, with very little precipitation. Due to the 7,000 foot elevation and dry air, mornings can be chilly with warm temperatures by the afternoon.
