Location
The 95th Annual Meeting of The Society of Rheology will be held in Austin, Texas
from October 13th to 17th, 2024. The optional short courses and Rheology Research Symposium (RRS) will occur on October 12th and 13th. The technical program, short courses and RRS will take place at the
Austin Marriott Downtown
on 304 East Cesar Chavez.
Austin is the capital city of Texas and blends all the amenities of a major city with the green space of a small town and is proudly declared to be the Live Music Capital of the World.
Nothing beats live music in Austin, and Austin City Limits (ACL)
October 4th-6th and October 11th-13th this year, just a few days before our meeting.
Austin also boasts 500 parks and is an outdoor enthusiast playground year-round. Hiking and biking trails around Austin are popular outdoor destinations, along with the famous
natural pools of Barton Springs and open fields (and food trucks) at
Zilker Park. For more relaxing activities, visit Austin’s surrounding
Hill Country for historic towns, craft breweries and vineyards.
The Austin Marriott Downtown is a short walk from restaurants, music venues, shops and Lady Bird Lake.
The average high and low temperatures in Austin during October are 88°F and 65°F, respectively, with an average precipitation of under 4 inches.

for attendees of the SoR 95th Annual Meeting.

Air Transportation
The conference hotel in downtown Austin is approximately 9 miles from the
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
All major rental car agencies are available.
From the airport, you can take the Austin
CapMetro bus line
24 hours a day / 7 days a week. The ride takes approximately 53 minutes and costs approximately $2. Taxi / Uber from Austin-Bergstrom will cost approximately $40 / $25-$30.
Ground Transportation
From the Austin
Amtrak train station,
take either the CapMetro
buses for around $2, a taxi / Uber ride for around $15 or enjoy a 26-minute walk.
Parking
On-site parking is available for $59-$69 per day.

Conference registration includes access to all technical sessions and the vendor display, the program booklet, and all receptions and coffee breaks. The registration fee does not
include the Bingham Medal Banquet; see details on the meeting registration info page (coming soon).
Register
On-site check-in of registrants will be held on Sunday October 13th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Austin Marriott Downtown.
Check-in will also be held Monday, October 14th through Wednesday, October 16th from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the same location.

Rheology Research Symposium (RRS)
This event will bring together students and professionals to explore career development in the field of rheology. The symposium will be held from October 12th through October13th
in rooms 501 and 502 of the Austin Marriott Downtown.
Welcome Reception
The Welcome Reception will be held on Sunday, October 13th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Student Trivia Night
Students and post-docs are invited to a "rheology-themed" Student Trivia Night on Monday, October 14th from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Location to be announced soon.
Outing in Downtown ATX
Experience the unique Austin nightlife that the city is famous for with your fellow rheologists on Monday, October 14th from 6:30 pm to 9:00pm.
Society Business Meeting
All attendees are encouraged to attend the annual business meeting of The Society of Rheology. This year the business meeting will be held
on Tuesday October 15th from 12 noon to 1:30 pm in the Austin Marriott Downtown.
Bingham Medal Reception and Banquet
The Bingham Medal Reception and Banquet will be held on Tuesday October 15th in the Waterloo Ballroom of the Austin Marriott Downtown. The reception
will be held from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The reception is open to all
meeting participants at no extra charge. The Bingham Medal Banquet will follow at 8:00 pm; banquet tickets can be purchased with the
meeting registration (see meeting registration page for details).
Poster Session and Gallery of Rheology
The Poster Session and Reception will be held on Wednesday October 16th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Entries of the Gallery of Rheology Contest will be displayed. Online voting will start at 10:00 am and end at 8:00 pm.

Exhibits
Vendors will demonstrate their products from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Wednesday in the Austin Marriott Downtown.
Coffee breaks will be held in the same ballroom and the promenade. Vendors should contact the Local Arrangements Committee Chair
(Roger Bonnecaze) directly to inquire about exhibit space.
