The 91st Annual Meeting of The Society of Rheology will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina
on October 20-24, 2019; with the optional short course and Rheology Research Symposium (RRS) occuring on October 19th and 20th. The technical program will take place at the
Raleigh Convention Center
in the heart of downtown Raleigh, a large 500,000 square-foot facility that features stunning window views of downtown. The short course and RRS will be held at the
Raleigh Marriott City Center next door.
The Monday evening reception will take place at the North Carolina Museum of Art,
while the banquet and other receptions will be hosted at the Convention Center. With the
Red Hat Amphitheater and the
Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts only a few minutes by foot from the Convention Center,
visitors will be able to enjoy restaurants, concerts, and theater performances all within a three-block stretch. For the more adventurous meeting goers,
they can take a trip after the meeting to see the fall colors at the Blue Ridge Mountains!
The average high and low temperatures in Raleigh during October are 72°F and 50°F, respectively, with an average precipitation of 3.7 inches.
Raleigh Marriott City Center is the designated hotel
for SoR 2019. A conference room block has been reserved and can be accessed through the lodging link under Attendees on the top menu.

The Raleigh Marriott City Center is about 19 miles southeast
of the Raleigh-Durham Internatonal Airport (RDU) . This Marriott hotel does not provide shuttle service. The estimated Uber/taxi fare is 30-45 USD one way.

Conference registration includes access to all technical sessions and the vendor display, the program booklet, and all receptions and coffee breaks. The registration fee does not
include the Bingham Medal Banquet; see details on the meeting registration info page.
On-site registration will be held on Sunday October 20th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Main Lobby on the 3rd floor of the Raleigh Convention Center.
Registration will also be held Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the same location.
Rheology Research Symposium (RRS)
This event will bring together students and professionals to explore career development in the field of rheology. The symposium will be held from October 19-20.
The Welcoming Reception will be held on Sunday October 20th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Main Lobby
on the 3rd Floor of the Raleigh Convention Center.
Monday Evening Reception
The Monday Evening Reception will be held at the North Carolina Museum of Art
from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm on Monday October 21st.
Shuttle busses will be provided to take participants from the Marriott/Convention Center to the Museum.
Society Business Meeting
All attendees are encouraged to attend the annual business meeting of The Society of Rheology. This year the business meeting will be held
on Tuesday October 22nd from 12 noon to 1:30 pm in Room 304 of the Raleigh Convention Center.
Bingham Medal Reception and Banquet
The Bingham Medal Reception and Banquet will be held on Tuesday October 22nd. The reception
will be held from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Convention Center Ballroom Lobby (4th floor). The reception is open to all
meeting participants at no extra charge. The Bingham Medal Banquet will follow at 8:00 pm in the
Ballroom on the 4th Floor of the Raleigh Convention Center; banquet tickets can be purchased with the
meeting registration (see meeting registration page for details).
Poster Session and Gallery of Rheology
The Poster Session and Reception will be held on Wednesday October 23rd from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
at the Raleigh Convention Center Ballroom on the 4th floor.
Vendors will demonstrate their products from 8:30 am to 4 pm, Monday through Wednesday in the Hallway North 3rd Floor
of the Raleigh Convention Center. Coffee breaks will also be held in the Exhibit area. Vendors should contact a Local Arrangements Committee member
(Saad Khan, Lilian Hsiao, or
Michael Rubinstein) directly to inquire about exhibit space.
