Student-Member Service Opportunities for 2019

Representative in Executive Committee

The Society of Rheology is seeking a student member to serve in an advisory role on the Executive Committee by representing SoR student interests more broadly. The student representative to the SoR Executive Committee will provide guidance and advice to the Executive Committee, in a non-voting role. Requirements include attending the Executive Committee meetings: spring meeting at AIP in College Park (April 28 for 2019) and the Sunday immediately preceding the annual SoR meeting. Note that limited financial support is provided for travel. Terms are for two years, non-renewable.

Applications are due by March 1, 2019 for consideration to start in March 15th. Application should be in the form of a single, three page PDF (not more than 3 MB) consisting of:

  • 1.  A cover letter highlighting the applicant's qualifications, including any leadership or executive service.
  • 2.  A one-page brief curriculum vitae.
  • 3.  A short letter from the applicant's thesis advisor simply acknowledging his or her support for the applicant's service commitment.

The PDF file should be uploaded to the Upload Site, following the instructions found there. Applicant should be a student member of The Society of Rheology at the time of application.

The position requires a commitment through the Winter 2021 meeting (Feb 2021). Students intending to complete their dissertation before that time, but commit to fulfill their term while a postdoc or young professional in a rheology career, will be considered without prejudice. Questions about the representative position can be directed to the President of The Society of Rheology.
