Location
The 93rd Annual Meeting of The Society of Rheology will be held in Chicago, Illinois
on October 9-13, 2022; with the optional short courses and Rheology Research Symposium (RRS) occuring on October 8th and 9th. The technical program, short courses and RRS will take place at the
Sheraton Grand Chicago,
a facility with 125,000 square feet of meeting space next to the Chicago River in downtown Chicago.
Chicago is the third-largest city in the United States and is a hub for world-class dining, attractions, culture, and more.
The Sheraton Grand Chicago is right next to the breathtaking Chicago River and multi-award-winning Chicago Riverwalk,
which is lined with coves, restaurants, public art, and more. It is also within walking distance of the world-famous Magnificent Mile,
a 13-block stretch of 50 landmark buildings, 460+ high-end stores, and 275 restaurants. Chicago is home to museums voted to be among the best in the world,
which house fine art masterpieces,
the largest dinosaurs known to man,
and the most expansive science and industry collection in the Western Hemisphere.
Chicago has also been voted America’s Best Restaurant City and is the birthplace of electric blues and house music and has a vibrant music scene.
The average high and low temperatures in Chicago during October are 64°F and 47°F, respectively, with an average precipitation of under 4 inches.
Getting There
Hotel Information
The Society of Rheology has reserved room blocks at the Sheraton Grand Chicago for attendees of the SoR 93rd Annual Meeting.

Air Transportation
The conference hotel in downtown Chicago is approximately 18 miles from O’Hare International Airport
and 12 miles from Chicago Midway International Airport.
O’Hare is a major hub for American and United Airlines. Midway is a hub for Southwest Airlines. All major rental car agencies are at both airports.
From O’Hare, you can take the CTA Blue Line train 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. The ride takes approximately 45 minutes and costs approximately $5. Taxi/Uber from O’Hare will cost approximately $45 / $28-$30.
From Midway, you can take the CTA Orange Line train. The ride takes approximately 25 minutes and costs approximately $2.25. Taxi/Uber from Midway will cost approximately $30 / $23.
Ground Transportation
Amtrak long distance and commuter rail services service
Union Station. From there, take either the Line 124 or Line 151 buses for around $3, a river ferry for around $6, a taxi ride for around $10, or enjoy a 35-minute walk.
Parking
On-site parking is available for $63 per day.

On-site check-in of registrants will be held on Sunday October 9th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sheraton Promenade of the Sheraton Grand Chicago.
Check-in will also be held Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the same location.

Rheology Research Symposium (RRS)
This event will bring together students and professionals to explore career development in the field of rheology. The symposium will be held from October 8-9.
Welcoming Reception
The Welcoming Reception will be held on Sunday October 9th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Chi East/Fountainview Areas
of the Sheraton Grand Chicago, located on the same floor as the main hotel entrance, overlooking the Chicago River.
Student Trivia Night
Students and post-docs are invited to a "rheology-themed" Student Trivia Night at
The Northman Beer & Cider Garden (233 East Riverwalk, Chicago, IL 60601)
on Monday October 10th from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

All attendees are encouraged to attend the annual business meeting of The Society of Rheology. This year the business meeting will be held
on Tuesday October 11th from 12 noon to 1:30 pm in Shearaton 4 of the Sheraton Grand Chicago.
Bingham Medal Reception and Banquet
The Bingham Medal Reception and Banquet will be held on Tuesday October 11th in Sheraton Ballrooms 4 and 5. The reception
will be held from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Sheraton Promenade, immediately outside the ballrooms. The reception is open to all
meeting participants at no extra charge. The Bingham Medal Banquet will follow at 8:00 pm; banquet tickets can be purchased with the
meeting registration (see meeting registration page for details).
Poster Session and Gallery of Rheology
The Poster Session and Reception will be held on Wednesday October 12th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in Riverwalk A on the first floor.
The entries of the Gallery of Rheology Contest will be displayed in Sheraton 1. Online voting will start at 10 am and end at 8 pm.
Exhibits
Vendors will demonstrate their products from 8:30 am to 4 pm, Monday through Wednesday in Sheraton 1.
Coffee breaks will be held in the same ballroom and the promenade. Vendors should contact the Local Arrangements Committee Chair
(Simon Rogers) directly to inquire about exhibit space.
