Rheology Bulletin & Digest Editor  (11-23-2020)

Dear Society of Rheology Members:

As you may recall from my most recent message, we have worked this year to re-envision the Rheology Bulletin and other SOR communications. We will be continuing the Bulletin, as well as adding a Rheology Digest, which will be a more frequent, briefer venue for communication. We are now seeking an Editor for this new enterprise. If you are interested in this new and very important role in the Society, see below for further details.

The Society of Rheology is seeking a committed member to take on the important responsibility of serving as Bulletin Editor. This person will lead an editorial team to prepare the Rheology Bulletin, which is the official publication of record for the Society, and content for the Rheology Digest, which will be a new forum for regular communication. The editor will be responsible for assembling the required information as specified by the Society’s constitution with the assistance of the Society Secretary for matters of record, as well as working with the editorial team for including matters of importance to the membership, such as meeting reports and articles of general interest. The editor will be responsible for working with the production team to produce the yearly bulletin in a timely manner, and work with the Secretary to provide content for the Rheology Digest. Both the Digest and the Bulletin will be produced in electronic format only. The editorial position includes a stipend and requires reporting to the Executive Committee as well as attending the annual business meeting. It is expected that the Editor be a member of the Society in good standing.

Interested persons should upload, by December 15th, a letter indicating their interest and any relevant background to: https://www.rheology.org/sorapply/.

Take care, everyone. I sincerely look forward to seeing you all in person at the next SOR Annual Meeting in Bangor, Maine in October 2021!

Mike Graham

President, The Society of Rheology
