In conjunction with the poster session, The Society of Rheology is sponsoring a student poster competition to encourage student presentations and participation in the meeting and to recognize excellence. To participate in the competition, in addition to normal abstract submission for the poster session, students must also submit a PowerPoint-type poster in PDF format (NOT to exceed 2 MB) by midnight (EDT) FRIDAY June 27, 2008.

A international panel of judges will select up to twenty finalists based on the entries, with the final selection of THREE winners to be made by the judges at the poster session. An award of $500 will be made to each winner at the conclusion of the poster session. TA Instruments is sponsoring the cash awards and also hosting the poster reception.

Please note that:

• First author must be a student.

• First author must attend and be available to discuss the poster at the poster session.

• The PowerPoint-type poster in PDF format must be received by BOTH Poster Session Chairs by midnight (EDT) FRIDAY June 27, 2008 for the purposes of selection of the finalists. The PDF file should be attached to an e-mail to Jai A. Pathak AND Nina C. Shapley. The file should contain no more than 20 slides or panels, and must be no larger than 2 MB.

• An e-mail confirming the receipt of the PDF file will be sent to the participants. Please contact the Poster Session Chairs if such an e-mail is not received within 3 days.

The finalists will be notified by e-mail prior to the meeting.
