As a clarification of the constitutional ballot issue on which you have been asked to vote, I would like to add a few words.

The proposed amendment to the SOR constitution comes from the SOR Executive Committee. The Society of Rheology receives tax-free status in the United States, but one of the requirements of maintaining the tax-free status is that, should the entity dissolve, the assets of the entity will go to a similarly tax-free entity. With this proposed amendment the SOR is coming into compliance with this requirement.

The specific language that is used in the proposed amendment is that suggested by the Internal Revenue Service of the U.S.
