| The 76th Annual Meeting of The Society of Rheology
will be held in Lubbock, TX from February 13-17, 2005; the associated
optional Short Courses will be offered on February 12 and 13. All
sessions will be held at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, which is a
one block walk from the newly renovated Holiday Inn Hotel and Towers
(806-763-1200), where a room block has been reserved. Other nearby hotels
include the Sheraton Four Points (806-747-0171) and the La Quinta
Inn Civic Center (806-763-9441). There are many attractions in the

Air Transportation
|
|
Lubbock is served by Lubbock International Airport (symbol LBB),
a modern jet facility. With over 30 flights daily LBB is easy to reach
and service is provided by American Eagle, Continental and
Southwest Airlines. Coming from the East Coast, Europe and the Midwest
one generally flies through Dallas or Houston. Coming from the West
Coast it is often best to use Southwest on a one-stop from Los Angeles
or Oakland through Las Vegas, El Paso or Albuquerque. Websites for the

Ground Transportation
|

Lubbock is 330 miles from both Dallas and Albuquerque. We suggest that you
take the plane and you can reach your hotel by taxi, rental car or
shuttle from the major hotels. The hotels and convention center location
are approximately 10 miles from the airport or a 15 minute drive. Major
rental car agencies provide car rentals at the Lubbock Airport.

Registration
|
|
Conference registration includes access to all
technical sessions and the vendor display, the program and abstract
booklets, Monday Society Luncheon, receptions, and coffee breaks.
The registration fee does not include the Banquet, which is subject
to limited seating. Please see details on the
meeting registration page. On-site
registration will be held on Sunday, February 13 from 2 PM to 7 PM,
in the Holiday Inn and Towers. Registration will continue
each day, Monday through Wednesday, starting at 8 AM in the
Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.

Welcoming Reception
|
|
A welcoming reception will be held in the Atrium of
the Holiday Inn and Towers from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Sunday
February 13.

Society Luncheon
|

The Society Luncheon will be held in the Lubbock Memorial
Civic Center on Monday February 14 beginning at 12:00 PM. Professor
David Boger, Laureate Professor at University of Melbourne, will give a talk
titled "Rheology and the Triple Bottom Line".

Society Reception
|
| |
A Society Reception and wine, cheese, and hors d'oeuvres event will be held at the Caprock
Winery. Buses will leave for the winery from the Holiday Inn at
approximately 6:15 PM and return to the Holiday Inn at about 10 PM from the
winery.

Bingham Award Reception and Banquet
|
|
The Bingham Award Reception will be held on
Tuesday, February 15 from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM. This will be
followed by the Bingham Award Banquet from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM
(tentative). Both events will be held at the Museum of Texas Tech.
Busses will be provided to get people to and from the Museum. The
busses will leave from the Holiday Inn at 6:45 PM and return at
10:00
PM (tentative). Entry to the Reception has no
charge and the tickets to the Banquet can be purchased with meeting
registration (see meeting registration page).

Society Business Meeting
|
|
All attendees are encouraged to attend the annual business meeting of
The Society of Rheology on Tuesday, February 15, at 5:40 PM in Room
107 of Lubbock Memorial
Civic Center.

Poster Session
|
|
The poster session will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on
Wednesday, February 16 in the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. There
will be a reception in conjunction with the Poster Session.
|
Exhibits
|
|
Vendors will demonstrate their products in the Lubbock
Memorial Civic Center Monday through Wednesday, starting at 8 AM. Coffee
and refreshments will be served in the exhibit area. Vendors should contact
Local Arrangements Committee Chairman (Gregory B. McKenna, Texas Tech
University, 806-742-3553) directly about exhibit space.
