XIIth International Congress on Rheology

CANADIAN RHEOLOGY GROUP

The Canadian Rheology Group was founded in July 1982. The effort was spearheaded by a group of well-known rheologists in Canada: John Dealy, Henry Schreiber, Leszek Utracki, Pierre Carreau, among others, who elected John Dealy as the first Chairman. Distinguished rheologists followed on as Chairmen of the CRG: L.A. Utracki, J. Vlachopoulos, P.J. Carreau, D. De Kee and D.F. James, the current Chairman. The CRG is affiliated with the Macromolecular Science and Engineering Division of the Chemical Institute of Canada. The purpose of the group is to promote and advance rheology in Canada by encouraging communication between Canadian rheologists and by promoting the understanding, development and use of rheology. It acts as the link with the international rheological community since it has a representative on the International Committee on Rheology. It also organizes technical meetings and symposia. Sixty-nine members enrolled in the first year of its existence The current membership, over one hundred and fifty, illustrates clearly not only the progress of the field and of the Group itself, but also recognizes the importance of rheology in a number of areas of application, as more and more industrial members are enrolling.
