Each manuscript is to be submitted in a single PDF file. The
PDF file should be created with the following specifications:
- Each manuscript is limited to a length of
three pages.
- The manuscript layout should adhere to
AIP 8.5 x 11 inch, single-column format.
- All fonts should be embedded in the PDF
file. Please ensure that “Embed all fonts” is selected in the PDF
settings of the program used to create the PDF file (for
example, Adobe Acrobat). See
the step-by-step
instructions to configure PDF settings. If fonts are not
embedded, some characters may not be rendered correctly in other computers.
- All figures should be created with at least 300 dpi and
pasted into the manuscript. Color graphics are available on CD-ROM
and in the on-line version.
For detailed author instructions, please consult the
AIP 8.5 x 11 inch, single column instruction booklet and a
sample paper. Also available are
MS Word Templates and Users Guide and
LaTeX Classes and Guides to help create the manuscript. Please
note that the manuscript should be submitted in PDF format, not in
MS Word or LaTeX format.
- Transfer of Copyright Agreement
Please download the
Transfer of Copyright Agreement form and have it signed by at least one
author of each paper. Scan the signed form and submit it as a PDF
file along with the manuscript. Your paper cannot be published without an
accompanying signed Transfer of Copyright Agreement form.
- Permissions to Reprint Published Material
Please request as early as possible and submit
along with the manuscript the necessary permissions documentation for any
figures or tables borrowed from other sources. Any figures or tables taken
in their entirety from another source need permission from the previous
publisher or author. If the source is an AIP or member society journal, or
an AIP Conference Proceedings Volume, permissions do not need to be
obtained. Similarly, if the source is considered public domain, or was
authored by one of the authors of the current paper, permission does not
need to be obtained. Please refer to the “Permissions” section of the
AIP 8.5 x 11 inch, single column instruction booklet for details on
determining if permission should be requested.
The
booklet also provide links to some publishers that offer
submission of permission requests online or via email, which may be
the fastest and most convenient way of receiving a reply. You may
also use the
Permission Request Form to request permission to reprint text,
tables or figures. You may complete this form and fax it to the
publisher or author of the material you wish to use.
Please compile and scan all your
permissions documentation into a single PDF file to submit
along with your manuscript.
- Order Form for Offprints (optional)
Authors wishing to have offprints (reprints)
prepared should fill out the
Order Form for Offprints. Scan it into a PDF file and submit it
along with the manuscript.
The manuscript, transfer of copyright agreement, permissions
documentation, and offprints order form (if wish to order offprints)
should be submitted in PDF files (each in separate file).
These should be submitted online through the
manuscript submission site. The paper ID
and password (found in the abstract submission confirmation
web page and e-mail) are required to access the manuscript
submission site. The deadline for manuscript submission is
April 15, 2008.
